Immerse yourself in history with a poignant tribute to the heroic crews of the B-17s from the 511th Bomber Squadron of the 8th Air Force. The 511th operated primarily from RAF Polebrook and was equipped with heavy bombers, the B-17 Flying Fortress.
The primary role of the 511th Squadron was to conduct strategic bombing raids against targets in Nazi Germany and occupied territories, thus contributing to the Allied war efforts to weaken the enemy's industrial and military infrastructure.
During the war, the 511th Squadron participated in numerous bombing missions over Europe, demonstrating courage and dedication in extremely dangerous conditions.
