The Chance Vought F4U Corsair is an American military aircraft, used during the Second World War and until 1968.
It is one of the best known aircraft of World War II, thanks in part to the television series Les Têtes brûlées, which popularized its stocky silhouette and W-wing (inverted gull wing) that make the Corsair almost immediately recognizable. The Corsair was primarily used in the Pacific, serving in both the US Navy and the US Marine Corps.
