The P-61A-10 42-5623 « SWEATIN' WALLY » flown by Captain Walter A.STORCK is one of the few "black widows" to have served in all three major theaters of operations in World War II.
Initially deployed with the 427th Night Fighter Squadron to Payne Airfield, Cairo, Egypt, in August 1944, he conducted night fighter operations over the Mediterranean Sea.
Designated for assignment to Pomigliano airfield, Italy the squadron carried out some missions of airfield protection and night bomber hunting.
It was finally reassigned to the Tenth Air Force and shipped to India on the CBI front in late 1944.
